Welcome to the website for Abigail Baldwin Coyne Design. I am Abigail; a Washington, D.C. based floral designer.
I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and am proud of my Midwestern roots and values. I attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin where I obtained my B.A. in Psychology. I went on to pursue my Masters in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University in New York. I worked for two years as a clinical social worker on the south side of Chicago, before pursuing a career in Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Chicago. I am currently a fundraiser at a rigorous independent girls school in the district. In my spare time I operate Abigail Baldwin Coyne Design as owner and designer.
I consider myself an A-Z florist in that I look at all elements of the event vision when designing flowers. For instance, when I design a wedding, I consider the couple's tastes and style, the family's traditions, the wedding and bridesmaid dress designs, the groom's and groomsmens' haberdashery, the venue decor, the colors, the season.... Attention to detail is key and I want the design to appear curated.
In addition, because I am a one-person "operation" and do not have a retail floral space like so many floral businesses; I don't have the option of selling excess product in a store front. As a result, I am able to design freely until all of the product I've purchased for your event is utilized, which means that I often over-deliver on the orders I provide. For this reason, I am able to be highly flexible, creative, and budget-conscious.
When you hire me as your florist, I will schedule a call with you to discuss details and then will follow-up by providing you with a vision board via Pinterest that we can both work on to establish the perfect design for your special day. Once we are in agreement with the design vision, I will require you to sign a contract and make a deposit to secure the date.
It is one of my great joys in life to be creative and to work with clients to achieve their event goals. I hope I can bring beauty to your special days. My motto in life is "Make it a masterpiece!"
